With Metro Vancouver rapidly growing and overcrowding returning to the region, we urgently need more transit.

The Access for Everyone plan outlines our commitment to expanding transit service in all parts of the region, but we need support from political leaders to make it happen.

Access for Everyone

The Access for Everyone plan is a solution to help people in all parts of the region.

Access for Everyone is a blueprint that outlines ambitious plans to expand transit service, but TransLink’s revenue alone will not cover the cost of these expansion plans. We need the federal and provincial governments to fund the first phase of the Access for Everyone 10-year plan. This support will allow work to start immediately on transit expansion, with new services rolling out as early as late 2024.

Reduce Overcrowding

We have made every effort to balance service across the region with the resources available to us by reallocating service from less busy routes to those with higher ridership – but we have reached the point where further reallocation would significantly impact other customers.

Overcrowding on our bus network, especially in areas like South of Fraser and Vancouver, is becoming worse. During afternoon peaks, approximately one-third of bus trips in Vancouver/UBC and one-quarter in Surrey/Langley experience overcrowding.

Routes with the highest weekly ridership have seen significant growth, like the 323 (Surrey Central-Newton), where 1 in every 3 buses are overcrowded.

We know the only solution now is to add more transit.
